Reply and /or Resign

It was President’s Day around here and I am convinced that Gloria Macapagal Arroyo must finally explain to the Filipino people her part in the $135 million overprice scheme. She needs to explain if this was in partial payment to the head vote counter Abalos for past services rendered.

I’m sure there are not too many Filipinos left who continue to think that our government is clean. We have long ago resigned ourselves to the grim reality that we deserve our leaders and the preeminent part they play in the widespread corruption that is tearing our country apart. Moving out of the Philippines was all most of us could do who could not accept this cruel reality.

But Arroyo must now talk. We have reached a point when silence will no longer do. This isn’t just another crisis to be weathered with fear and money. If she is as corrupt as everyone thinks she is, then she has to resign. Vice President De Castro takes over, no matter what advantages he stands to gain in preparation for the 2010 elections.

Whether in the form of a trial or thru a fact finding commission totally devoid of politicians, we need to give her the chance to speak and recount in detail her involvement in the many scandals that have plagued her administration. All glory is fleeting, we all die. GMA must realize that it is never too late to come out clean. She can’t hang on to power indefinitely, her relatives and allies will all eventually fall. Sooner or later, she will be tried and for our nation to rise, justice will have to be served. Gloria Arroyo will face the full force of the law. And if she is found guilty of unpardonable crimes like depriving children from acquiring basic education, basic healthcare, basic nutrition, basic sanitation because funds were diverted to greedy criminals then she can expect no pardon.

She resigns, Noli de Castro becomes president. What do you think should happen next? Or is this just changing of names and faces with still corruption as the government's driving force?

De Castro will be an improvement. The rule of law must be followed. Dishonest people who directly cause millions of innocent children to live lives of extremely low quality need to be punished severely.

I don't like religion, presenting beliefs as facts to others. But in Philippine politics, I am glad that the church is getting involved. Chances are they really are good guys wanting to make a difference in the lives of the majority. As Neri allegedly said, the president is evil. No matter how complex governance could be, intentions get the ball rolling.

Law students from different schools are together protesting Arroyo's presidency. First time this ever happened. Her days should be numbered.

The idea that Kabayang Noli is a better alternative will not fly.
Come to thinks of it, except for his TV show, hitting hard against corruption and poverty, what did he accomplich as a senator?

The new generation of politicians coming from well educated and idealistic OFW will be the answer to our country's illnesess. While we work our butt off 12 to 18 hours a day just to send money to our relatives. These politicians sit on their butt pocketing the fruits of our sacrifices.

Who would care more about our future better than us?

This cycle of corruption needs to end. Arroyo and the rest of the TRAPO's including the former speaker DeVenecia and even the Cayetano's has to go.

We have suffered long enough. It's time that we put leaders in positions that can help alleviate the hardships of the common people.

If we keep on putting the same people in these positions, we only have ourselves to blame.

Fool me once , shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.

Frustrated Doc

You gotta hand it to Mrs Prexy there: hurdle after hurdle and she's still standing. But yeah: there shouldn't be an 'or' in the post title either. Reply AND Resign. Better if we put 'Be Hunble' as the first choice too.
